THE CA-CEDV GRANT PROGRAM
Children Exposed to Domestic Violence (CEDV)—Specialized Response program grants are administered by Cal OES,
with federal Children’s Justice Act (CJA) Grant funds. One of the primary goals of the CJA is to identify
areas to improve the assessment and investigation of suspected child abuse and neglect cases in a manner
that limits additional trauma to the child and the child’s family. Overseen by the California CJA Task
Force and Cal OES, the CEDV programs seek to reduce exposure and trauma of children exposed to domestic
violence. This is achieved through enhanced multiagency collaboration and systemic tracking, and
coordination and provision of services for these child victims of domestic violence. CEDV grants are
awarded to local law enforcement agencies throughout California, to establish cooperative and collaborative
partnerships with a community-based domestic violence services agency, county-level child protective services,
and other local social service agencies as needed.
The CJA Task Force and Cal OES contracted with Northwest Professional Consultants (NPC) Research to
evaluate the Cal OES-administered CEDV projects and to provide technical assistance to current grantees
regarding data collection, information management, and data reporting as it pertains to case reporting
and management requirements and practices. This web-based data management system supports that effort.
